Ian's Harry Potter movie thoughts

Just back from seeing this with L, Liam (8) and Jo Anna (four weeks). Liam loved it, Jo Anna fed and slept through nearly all of it, but I was less gripped. For a film about magic, it's surprisingly unmagical...

Most of the special effects aren't that good - whenever they've got the chance, they cheat.

On the plus side, it's not an insult to the viewer's intelligence. The acting's OK.

Towards the end, Jo Anna became unsettled, so I took her outside. Fortunately, you could see and hear what was going on, because I was interested enough to find out what was going to happen, but no way was I going to sit through all of this again to do so.

Mind you, I've yet to read any of the books.

"Mind you, I've yet to read any of the books."

Seeble - as they say on alt.poly. I thought I was the only adult in the country who hadn't read any Harry Potter! Glad to hear I'm not.

I didn't see the Full Monty until it was on TV either.

Bloomsbury are advertising 'adult' editions of HP heavily on the tube. This translates as a differenr cover. Oh, and a quid on the price.
