My preferred film genres do not include 'uplifting' and/or 'feel good' romantic comedy dramas.

Looking at British and American films,* there are some exceptions: the glorious fantasies The Princess Bride and Stardust, for example, along with the more bitter sweet examples of A Life Less Ordinary, The Tall Guy, Tamara Drewe, Chasing Amy, Earth Girls Are Easy, His Girl Friday, Grosse Pointe Blank, Intolerable Cruelty, and the original 'Pete and Dud' Bedazzled. That's out of about a thousand titles listed on WP and I don't think I missed many I like.

What others should I consider?

* There are more French / Italian / Hong Kong etc ones, but we tend only to get to see the best of those.

Amelie? Lots of musicals?

Amelie is great, but falls into the French category :)

I would say that most recent film musicals have been more or less crap, especially all of those directed by Rob Marshall. (I know you disagree about Chicago, at least.) I was specifically thinking of Sunshine on Leith as one I don't. Again, I know some people like it, but the only good jukebox musical I have ever seen featured Jacques Brel songs and didn't bother with trying to fit a plot around them.

Local Hero.

Some Like it Hot? (Possibly other black-and-white screwball romantic comedies like Bringing Up Baby)

Depending on how you feel about Musicals then High Society has both Romance and a huge amount of snark ...

Is like Harvey uplifting? It's not like Romantic but it's awesome

Musicals, Guys and Dolls, Gigi, South Pacific and perhaps Oklahoma?
Feel good, Space Cowboys? My Best Friend's Wedding, Pretty Woman.

I don't like The Princess Bride and Stardust. Don't know the rest unless His Girl Friday is Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn? I liked that if it is the one I think. Philadephia Story and High Society are the same story and I like both :).
