Another netbook on boffer
mini me + poo
Tonight it's the Eee 900 - just like the 901 several of us have, except the battery life is shorter. (The Celeron CPU has a much slower clock speed than the Atom in the 901, but never trust Intel clock speeds to tell the truth - they're actually basically the same real speed.)

£112 inc postage. You can get up to three, which suggests the stocks aren't quite as limited as the Acer obviously was. If it's sold out by the time you read this, let me know... I've ordered one as a spare.

(Edit: still available as of 9.45am. Hmm, do they have lots or did they only have a couple of Acers or do people not realise that this is a better deal?)

My research suggests the 900 battery life is ~2 hrs, so I may give a miss, unless Boffer tell me these have the 5800 battery not the totally shite 4400.

0.9kg though... [drool]

It'll be the smaller battery. I don't think UK versions of the 900 ever had the larger one.

Yep, they're light. The 901 is about 250g heavier, thanks to the larger battery.

They never fixed the battery drain issue in the 900, so this wasn't such an amazing deal.

I'm keeping a careful eye on these offers in case something really decent turns up. It's still possible to get a cheaper Aspire one, for instance, however having tried the Lenovo S9 which was briefly available at a couple of hundred quid the quality of construction really is light years ahead, particularly the keyboard.

On the other hand, I have a Thinkpad X61 which is vastly superior to any of the netbooks (and 2.5-3x the price), but it might be nice to have something cheap and throwaway.
