It's only taken, oh, about 45 years

One of the records my parents had was the original cast recording of Fings Ain't Wot They Used T'Be, Lionel Bart's second musical / 'play with music'. They were quite proud of having seen it in London before Bart's next, Oliver!, opened. So the title track in particular was one I remember hearing a lot as child, but I've never seen an actual production of it.

Well, it's just opened at the tiny Union Theatre in Southwark. The night I'm going (Thursday) is sold out - I suspect that might be its official opening night - but there are currently seats available for most others.

I'll let you know what it's like...
