Online backup update
mini me + poo
I've gone with AltDrive. It seems to work well: the important stuff went well and the big 'not quite as important' backup is nearly finished. The non-video bits anyway, as they don't do that until paid. Still, that means I don't need a 'not quite as important and not video' backup :) and it's a reminder of how much of the drive is filled with video of one sort or another.

If you'd like to give it a try, let me know and I'll send you a special link.

Interesting re : Alt Drive...
Will have to have a look.

I use Crashplan Pro from the USA (as they blocked UK billing, but I just fire up a USA VPN to get round the problem).

As Crashplan specifically excludes business use.

But the Crashplan bonus for me is that I can also target a local NAS / Drive or someone elses computer to sync the data to...

And for syncing stuff, I use SpiderOak and Sugarsync - SpiderOak as it's the only software I've found that will back up a network drive / unc path...

Dunno about on Windows, but in my experience getting programs to do 'off disc' stuff is easier on Linux - it's all one file system.

If I wanted to sync to a particular drive, I'd be using rsync.

Well, yeah - Rsync has it's place..

But RSync needs something point to point, where the software goes from PC to Cloud to Laptop where ever it is...
